In addition to traditional mental health counseling methods, Jennie also offers other services in her practice which can be used either in combination with standard therapy or on their own.

Drug/Alcohol Assessment

There are many reasons for people to obtain an alcohol / drug assessment. If you are questioning your relationship with alcohol or drugs, or have been asked to complete an assessment or evaluation by your employer or by the court system, the process of obtaining a diagnostic evaluation consists of an assessment of the individual's alcohol and/or drug usage through a comprehensive assessment interview and testing process. Jennie Keane has counseled people with addictions since 2003. During this time she has taught drug/alcohol classes, facilitated recovery groups, written comprehensive alcohol/drug evaluations for both courts and within the college setting.

Art Therapy

'Art therapy is a mental health profession in which clients, facilitated by the art therapist, use art media, the creative process, and the resulting artwork to explore their feelings, reconcile emotional conflicts, foster self-awareness, manage behavior and addictions, develop social skills, improve reality orientation, reduce anxiety, and increase self-esteem.'

'Research supports the use of art therapy within a professional relationship for the therapeutic benefits gained through artistic self-expression and reflection fo rindividuals who experience illness, trauma, and mental health problems and those seeking personal growth.'

Meditation is a technique for quieting the mind to cultivate mindfulness and deepen compassion for ourselves and others. I believe it is the foundation of self discovery. The ancient Zen masters have created a philosophy and a methodology that can lead one to enlightenment: the shedding of our ego, the opening of the heart, and experiencing non-attachment. Sustained practice of the techniques of meditation has been shown through scientific study to result in our bodies becoming healthier.

The type of Meditation practice I teach is a joining of ancient Zen practices, modern psychology, and Mindfulness meditation.

'Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.' -- from
